I am outraged with Mercedes Benz regarding the repair for a part that only costs about $15. To have to replace the entire door panel for just a door handle is assinine. This will be the deciding factor to never buy another Mercedes Benz. The vehicle seems to be a constant nightmare. I just had to repair the Adaptive Break Control Unit that cost me $1,755. There is a obvious design flaw in this situation. Mercedes should own up to its commitment of engineering and do the right thing for its customers. This is a safety hazard. If I would have been involved in a fatal accident and attempted to exit the car and the handle broke and did not allow me the ability to get out of the car, especially if smoke and fire is involved in the accident, a potential loss of life would occur. Mercedes Benz should be ashamed to allow such a flaw in a allegedly reputable manufacture. As it stands, I will never purchase another Mercedes Benz or will I ever recommed to a friend or family member to purchase a Mercedes Benz.

The inside driver's door handle on my 2010, C300 snapped off in my hand one day. I figured that was going to cost me a few hundred to replace the $15 part, since we are talking Mercedez. Much to my shock, the door handle isn't replaceable but instead requires the entire interior door panel to be replaced as a unit. The net ended up costing me $1185 plus tax!!! I am an engineer and took a close look at and photos of the door panel. MB elected to thermo mold/glue-in multiple subassemblied of the door panel rather than make them replaceable. I can understand that choice for trim pieces that don't break but, not making the door handle or the handle module replaceable goes beyond stupid and well into gross engineering incompetence. A good engineer would NEVER build a $15 single point of failure into a $1200 module forcing it's entire replacement. Let me put this into perspective...the entire car is only worth maybe $20,000 to $25,000 if even so we are talking about replacing the $15 door handle costing me over 5% of the total value of the car. I consider this a gross design flaw and should be covered at MB's expense, not mine. Needless to say, this leads me to question other MB engineering to the point of questioning if I'd ever buy another MB.
