Takata inflators: 2 recalls and no action taken by Mercedes Benz. Takata has known about this problem since 2008. They need to find a way to make the parts available now! 9 years is long enough to manufacture the defective part replacement.

Takata recall....I am concerned about the fact that my car is one of those under this recall and I have had for more than a year an alert on my display when starting the car indicating "SRS malfunction service required". I took the car back to Mercedes once who told me it was a dummy light and was cleared. Several days later it came back on and my calls to the shop were not returned. I then learned of this recall and when finally reaching someone was told it may be related and that I will receive instructions when a repair was found. It's been at least a year and every day I start my vehicle I am reminded that I or any passengers in my car could be at risk in the event of an accident. I bought this car because the reviews were astounding about the safety features. Yet here I have a vehicle that I don't dare have passengers in. I basically use the car for work and only work. It's the quivelant of having a one seated car. This problem needs to be corrected asap. I have a grandson coming in may and would like to know that I am able to pick him and/or my daughter up and know that I can safely get them to doctors appointments and for visits.

I have been waiting way too long for my airbags to be replaced since receiving notification that there is a serious problem. This needs to be fixed now!!! I do not understand the delays. I feel afraid to drive my beautiful car for fear of bodily harm coming to me or my passengers. It started of with a recall letter for the drivers side airbag only then I received another letter telling me its the passenger side also. Please help me out here. Takata recall -- what other alternatives are available since the manufacturers are taking forever to complete this process" does anyone in America make airbags? I took my car to tysinger today and asked them to just deactivate both airbags and the guy said it was against the law, but I found a form regarding deactivation of the bags. So, what do I need to do to deactivate the bags" I feel less at risk driving this car without those bags rupturing. I shouldn't be forced to drive with those airbags and can't afford to buy another car. My husband bought this car as a surprise this year -- surprise is on me -- not happy with this situation, we should feel safe in our cars!
