No problems previously. Took car in for air bag recall and two days later the steering column locked. Unable to turn on the car. Battery determined to be fully charged and lights working. Brake pedal could not be depressed and car locked in park. Called AAA for a tow and individual there advised I put the key in the ignition, foot on the brake pedal and as I turned on the key I was to moved the steering wheel back and forth until there was an audible 'click.' It unlocked and the car started.

It has now happened two other times and I've got a 50/50 chance of it starting. Returned to Mercedes dealership and they vow it had nothing to do with the air bag recall. Seems a bit too much of a coincidence to believe. $1100 to repair but car is totally unreliable at this point They claim it cannot be disabled or removed. I am still pursuing my options. Seems like a recall may be in order!
