This car has had multiple problems with lights on dashboard flashing warning of low battery, the a.c. shutting itself off, and just plain not starting. Took it to local mechanic who has worked on this car for several years. He replaced the alternator. Problems continued. Alternator (valejo from O'Reilly) was defective; he replaced it with another one. Previous owner recommended disconnecting seats; did that and all was well for a few weeks. Now, four weeks later, I'm out driving around miles outside of town; pulled over to 'use a bush'; car would not start. Alternator should have recharged battery with all that highway driving, but car still deader than a doornail. Its about 109 degrees, and AAA won't be there for an hour and a half- carry water with you, folks! Jump start car; get it home; doesn't want to start next day but does reluctantly. I now hook it up to battery charger every night! Took it back to mechanic on the 22nd, thinking this alternator is bad, too. He ran tests; all is well. With engine off, machine used to test indicates there is still a power draw. He doesn't know what it is. It will be expensive to track it down. He says with other cars he would disconnect the fuses one by one and see when the draw stops but that Mercedes doesn't 'work like that'. Sigh... I want a new car. It will not be a Mercedes.
