  • 243,000 miles
The contact owns a 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350. While driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to engage as it traveled to the floorboard. The contact was able to safely coast the vehicle to a gas station. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated weeks prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to Mercedes-Benz of san diego (4750 kearny mesa rd, san diego, ca) where it was diagnosed that the sbc module malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 243,000. The VIN was not provided. Contact states that vehicle was taken to riverside Mercedes-Benz to check why the check engine light was illuminated and was never told there was a brake malfunction. Two weeks later brakes malfunctioned.

Bought the car in Oct.of 2013. Third brake warning comes on from time to time. Have checked my brake lights with someone pushing the brake pedal while I observed more than once and they work fine. Two of my co-workers have told me recently while following me that my third brake light does not always work. I know there is a brake light issue that is being recalled on a different Mercedes model and year. Was thinking that my vehicle might have the same issue.
