The headlight wiring harness insulation becomes brittle over time and breaks off leaving owner with bare headlight wiring that leaves headlights susceptible to shorting out and could potentially cause a fire. It's my understanding that Mercedes-Benz is well aware of the issue and refuses to address and repair at their expense or partially reimburse cost to customer. The issue is well documented across many Mercedes-Benz auto owner's community communications threads. It's also understood that Mercedes-Benz knowingly used a biodegradable wiring insulation on parts of it's wiring harnesses used on the 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 and other Mercedes-Benz models at various years.
