I chose Mercedes Benz for many reasons, the two main being Reliability and Safety. I find it amazing that the safety system should fail after 6 years, given that it has never been used, and the car has never been involved in any incident ever. I find it outrageous that MBUSA wants me to pay to have the passenger airbag replaced. I find it totally unacceptable that after 5 days of unreturned phonecalls, they finally had the audacity to offer to cover 25% of the cost.
Here's the thing. I told the MBUSA representative that their offer constituted an admission of liability, and that their decision to not cover the airbag failure would guarantee the loss of a customer and filing of complaints with the Department of transportation and others. The guy said I'm sorry you feel that way but there's nothing I can do. Names, Addresses, and numbers withheld for now.
So much for German engineering and Customer satisfaction.
