CLK430 4.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,000 miles

The passenger side seat belt was fully retracted into the side panel but would not release to be used again. Previous to the failure the seat belt had been retracted gently with no harsh usage. The car was taken to the local dealership and the seatbelt was deemed to be "broken" and would cost $900 to replace as it was "very labor intensive". We've never encountered issues with a seat belt with any other vehicle we have owned. Mostly concerned with the cost of replacing a part that is as basic and common as a seat belt.
