The contact owns a 2010 Mercedes-Benz Glk350. While driving 60 mph, fuel leaked from the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle leaked fuel onto the ground when parked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Excessive fuel smell, turns out it's the fuel tank, was informed plastic fuel tank seam is splitting and is now a fire/safety issue. Informed that Mercedes is aware of the problem and replaced many during warranty period, but now since my warranty is over this safety repair will cost me in excess of $3,000. This is a fire hazard and big time safety issue that the NHTSA needs to look into.

Very strong smelling fuel odor after everytime I fill it up with fuel. Yesterday 06/20/16 it starting leaking fuel. This has been going on since I bought it in November 2015. Car could be stationary or in motion and the smell of fuel is always there. Smells the worst when I fill it up. The actual leak prompted me to file this complaint.

On 4/24/16, a Toyota rear ended me and pushed me into the vehicle in front of me. The damage would have been repairable until my car caught on fire. It looked like it started in the inside above the gas tank area, but the man working at the impound lot the next day said it looked electrical. Either way, the impact should not cause a Mercedes to catch on fire. I was on a city street stopped at a stoplight.

Fuel leaking/dripping after filling up with gas. The smell of gas prompted me to look under the vehicle and it was then that I saw a small pool of gas on the driveway. The leaking stopped when the tank was less than full and recurred when filling the gas tank. No damage yet, going to the dealer for their assesment.
