We have had continuing problems with the control buttons on the windows, temp controls, lights, etc. Losing their painted covering/delaminating. Mercedes has said that this is an environmental problem due to hand lotion and/or air fresheners and not a defect. We've have many cars over many years and we've never had this problem occur before. Apparently Mercedes has recognized the problem and sent a service advisory to their repair entities but they are refusing to acknowledge this as a defect. This is a safety problem as the letters and words on the buttons become illegible forcing the driver to take their attention from road to try and obtain the required action. Consumer stated that transmission failed at 85,847 miles. Consumer heard a fan-like noise coming from the transmission. There was metal in the transfer case. The transmission was replaced and the cooler and torque converter were flushed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but did not offer assistance.
