Continental tires-I have had failures of 3 tires on a new car, a Mercedes E350 4matic, equipped with Continental 245/40/18 tires. Two tires had weak sidewall and blew out after hitting potholes at low speeds. The last had a bubble in the sidewall.

Pirelli scorpion zero tires. With less than 8,000 miles on the tires, I rolled over a one inch stone while driving 30 mph and the tire immediately lost air pressure. If this would have happened at high speed I would have lost control of the vehicle. The company's position is that the tire is safe, even though the stone penetrated through the full tread into the tire cavity.
