The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes Benz glk250(na). The contact stated that she forgot to close the hatch back door and while driving forward out of the garage, it crashed into the garage door shattering the glass. The contact mentioned that she believes it was a safety issue since the vehicle did not alert her that the door was still open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that they could not alter the design of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 6,000. Updated 08/28/14 the consumer was advised the alarm for the hatchback only sounds when the vehicle is being driven more than 5 mph. Updated 09/5/2014
