The glove box door on the Mercedes is covered with a leather type of material which is fairly thick. It is peeling off of the door and makes it impossible to open the glove box. There is no repair to this, and it must be replaced and not just the glove box door. The entire unit must be replaced. This is an issue that is well known within dealerships and of course is not covered if the warranty has ended. This issue begin after the car was purchased without a four months of warranty remaining no dealership within range to resolve it. I have shown this problem to the dealership when having the car serviced with no real response or solution.
The solution is that I can purchase the glove box unit and have it replaced. The unit is $520.00 and labor for replacement is an unknown number. A simple glue job does not resolve this problem. This is more of a design issue. I have a second Mercedes with a similar type of covered glove box door, but not identical by any means. That car has no issues with it. I am not sure if it is the extremely hot weather in the deep south or just poor application of product to adhere the cover to the door.
