Purchased the car from a reputable Porsche dealership, used with 19,000 miles. Auto runs very well and is attractive in warm weather, I noticed that a couple of spots the paint was discolored. When we reached winter and the temperature fell below around 40 degrees, the metal of the body was cold and then the paint would reflect these blotchy faded spots on all of the panels. As the temperature warms and the automobile becomes warmer after a day or two, the true color returns. This happens each time.

The auto was under warranty when purchased in May, 2018 but was out of warranty in August, 2018. I learned of this problem in December with the first bout of extremely cold weather. I waited until April and visited the dealership (not responsible for the sale) to ask about this issue and if it was covered, I gave them photos of the problem. I did not receive an initial response, but I contacted them in June and again in late July when they indicated that it was not covered because the auto is out of warranty. I have contacted the national customer service to see what they can do, and they also indicated that it was not covered. They did suggest that I get an estimate of the repair and call them back.

I just received the preliminary estimate ($10,092.92) for a repainting. Next step is to contact the national customer service again. I own another Mercedes which is not "red" but white and no paint issues. I have done some research on this issue and found that Mars Red (590) has had a number of complaints for bubbling, peeling, and discoloring. Clearly had I known this in advance or in May, I would not have purchased the Mars Red. This was not an inexpensive purchase.
