The Mercedes ABS Sprinter has a big safety issue. Mercedes service changed the speed sensor, lasted 1 week. With the ABS out cruise control does not work. We drive to Florida every year for the past 5 years. Driving in bad weather is very scary knowing the ABS will not work. How can a manufacture ignore such a safety problem?!

In February we purchased a used 2014 2500 Sprinter from a Ford dealer at a very good price because the engine warning light was ON. I had similar problems on other cars, usually a sensor failure. After 30 miles or so, light goes off... OKAY!!
In May I took a trip to Virginia. It performed fine, but on the way home, we lost passing gear and the turbo was inoperative... We made it home to FL somewhat slowly, but got here. The local shop diagnoses; failed O2 sensor, low DEF. And $250 later, all is well again. Lots of pickup.
In August we started on a trip to north FL with everything working. We ran low on fuel {yellow blinking light}. Filled it up, the yellow light goes off BUT no A/C on main nor on roof mounted a/c, no cruise control and the ABS lights come on. Diagnosis: bad. The rear speed sensors, bad; compressor, bad; sensors probably; both compressors, not likely.
All things point to a failing PCM(ECU} which would better explain the anomalies. Thankfully, I own a basic 2014 Jeep Patriot with 170k miles and a 2014 MAZDA 6 with 80k miles, both having given me very minor problems. NO MORE MERCEDES products for me. It's not reliable and costly to fix... Tom Winn
