Purchased a 99 cougar for my daughter. She broke down first time driving it. Car running fine then just shut off, weird sound when trying to start it but wont start. Had it towed and we replaced the module coil assembly 138.99. and not counting the new battery, drove it off made it 2 blocks and shut off again now another towing charge. This is very dangerous and sad knowing they have issues and they don't stand behind there product. They don't care about lives just MONEY. The recall wasn't for this Vehicle WHAT A JOKE. omg just got a call 175. and they are going to try gas modular, and if this doesn't work then they don't know.Yes it was put on computer. Maybe someone should do their job and investigate these issues since there are so many.

Update from Sep 10, 2016: After being told the garage couldn't fix, they believed it was electrical brought it home, and a friend came over he took middle console out and there is a clip on the gas harness he pushed it down car started fine and drove fine to SOLVE the problem he replaced the the connects and secured the clip CAR IS RUNNING GREAT. After $350.00 wasted!!! It cost $3.78 for ties and the wire clamps

Car started having problems about a month ago (seemingly, after battery had died when i left lights on in the parking lot). At first, occasionally, the car seemed to not want to start. It seemed to lag at first but would turn over every time. That happened for a couple weeks. Then my head lights and dashboard lights began to flicker on and off and my radio/stereo system (including two 12 inch sub woofers) would turn on and off even while driving. My dad kept telling me to bring it to the mechanics but I ignored the advice due to lack of finances at the time. Eventually I was attempting to jump my car almost every time I had to start it. One day it stopped jumping as well. A friend of mine with mechanic experience took a look and listened to it, and decided that it was probably the starter and the recalled wires for this year. Took him a while, but we got the starter out and tested (dead). Got a new one installed and car didn't start again. He hooked his own battery up and the car started. SO! we went and got a new battery and the car started fine! Stayed that way for about a week, and on the coldest night we had seen in SC, car didn't start again, and would not jump. Left it there over night, and came back in the morning. took a couple tries but the car jumped. I began driving and noticed it accelerating while idling, I didn't get more than one intersection up the road and the car just died. Hazards didn't work, nothing. Had the car jumped, and started but as soon as i put brake on to put in drive it would die again. Called tow truck and he hooked his charging box up in order to get my car out of the middle of this busy road. turned it off, and back on three times, and again at my mechanics. Mechanic could only make guesses as to what it was, and it started fine up until yesterday again. Thinking alternator, but battery has NEVER shown up truly dead. Each time the car didn't start we would hook it up to our charger and it read on full charge every single time. it's also a brand new battery. less than a month old. Anyone else having this problem?
