problem #1

Cougar 2.5L V6

Nothing serious, just an annoying "wub-wub-wub" sound as you let off the accelerator and begin to coast, occasionally does it when the car first starts as well. Really just want to get it fixed but no mechanic I've taken it to can pin point exactly what it is. I've been told it may be a valve or a pump that is loose letting air out or something along those lines. Anyone reading this who may know what is wrong please let me know!

Update from Sep 9, 2015: This problem is an easy fix, go to youtube, type in "2001 Mercury Cougar problems" its a video showing that the IAC hose leading to the EGR valve makes what is known as "moosing" harmless yet annoying. Best fix is to get a 1/2" copper cap and drill a 15/64" hole in it and put it in the hose, make sure its snug, this will reduce the extra uneeded air flow to the EGR valve and thus eliminate the annoying noise.
