In January of 2010, I heard a faint noise in my console and my wiper blades turned on and moved to the up position on the windshield. I have had it evaluated 2 different times, once at a Ford Dealership and the other at a firestone auto complete store. The Ford dealership told me it could be a number of things and wanted to do a $99 diagnostic. I asked if I got it repaired would they take that off from the repair price. They said no, so I said No Thanks! The Firestone store did a diagnostic for $49.99.They said several things were wrong. One being the relay, one being the motor, another being the mount that held the arms and blades in place, and the final were the arm blades themselves. While it's definitely annoying I should have described this seriousness of this as Critically dangerous as sometimes in Florida it rains so hard and my wiper blades will not wipe the water off the windshield as I am driving because there is not enough pressure to press the wipers against the windshield.
My estimate to repair would probably be around $180-$250 for motor, relay and wiper blade arms.
