Yes, it is really awful. I have to get it fixed or the vehicle will not pass inspection. Now, who was the genius who came up with the idea to have the manifold made partially of plastic? I would think the manufacturer would have given a recall on this part as I am sure there are many more with the same problem.

(reported on)

Grand Marquis LS 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

On the way home from Tampa to Maryland our engine started leaking anti freeze.

After a few hours waiting for a tow we finally ended up in a service station where we were told that a cracked intake manifold is a typical repair on these models and Crown Victorias due to the fact the manifold was made of plastic and cracked.

There was a recall, which ended two months before our car was disabled 900+ miles from home.

The good side is the mechanic had so much experience doing these we were on the road the next morning at 1100 am!
