About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.

When the auto is put in gear, all the door locks are activated (anti-carjacking system?). when the car is stpped, the passengers in the rear seat are not able to open the doors from inside even though the childproof lock has been disengaged. Passengers are trapped inside the car and the only way they can open the doors is by unlocking them via the power lock in the front doors. Local Mercury service dept appears to think this is normal. Told me that evry single 99 Grand Marquis in the lot behaves the same way. Also I have friends with the same problem in their Lincoln. Suppose the driver is unconscious, how do the passengers get out?
