Grand Marquis

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

When in reverse and the steering wheel is turned fully to the right, the steering feels funny like the tie rod is disconnected on the driver's side.

then,

When the car changes from reverse to drive there is a pop sound and the vehicle jumps about 3 inches

While driving on the expressway, more than once, the car steering suddenly veered out of the lane of traffic.

I think the tie rod end has failed and I and others will be killed if I drive it.
