The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that while sitting in an intersection with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated and lightly crashed into another vehicle. The air bags then deployed abnormally, several moments after the crash occurred. The contact was injured by the air bag and sustained lacerations to his left arm. A police report was filed. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised that the air bags should not have deployed without a forceful impact. The vehicle was repaired. 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis lunges forward (RPM increase @1000 and loud growl from engine compartment) when approaching a stop light and/or already stopped at a light. Everything returns to normal when I accelerate again, until the next light. This is an intermittent problem but very annoying. There have been no "incidents" from this since I now know to expect it, but I could certainly see an accident occurring as a result of this defect. I am reentering this as I think I marked the incorrect year make on my previous submission. It is actually a 2000.
