Grand Marquis LS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

I was on my way home at night when I noticed I had no lights. Luckily by holding the high beam stick towards me I was able to drive home but I was driving with my high beams (better than no lights at all but still not a safe way to drive). The repair bill for replacing a light control module (LCM) cost me $700. After agreeing to have the car serviced I asked if the LCM was new or refurbished.(refurbished usually has only a three year warranty while a new LCM is guaranteed for life) and was assured it was new.

FURTHERMORE the mechanic told me the part he had ordered had THREE model numbers due to various bugs being worked out over the years. So my suggestion is since the repair is so costly, at least make sure the LCM being installed in your Mercury is the latest replacement model. Not to mention the danger factor in having your lights suddenly not working again at night.

Grand Marquis LS 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,300 miles

I just bought this cherry 2005 Grand Marquis with only 57,500 miles on it, this year. When I went back to get the plates the day before the thirty day tag was up, the problem with the headlights only happened a couple of times. Now the headlights, only four months later, the only way I can have the headlights on is buy holding the lever to pass Brights on. You Know how much people like that?

FORD DO THE RIGHT THING,The LCM light control module should Be recalled. YOU have known almost from the beginning these parts were going to fail. And while you supply a free Loaner, You go ahead and Replace the Too short steering wheel Pin. These are Great Cars That have proven Long Life. But if steering wheel comes off or someone doesn't know to pull the lever back so they have Headlights, these are Big cars that could injure or Kill a large number, out control.
