Notice broken fuel tank strap August 6,2015. Went to dealer to have looked at, then I had them do the job. I was worried my fuel tank could drop. He quoted me $600 at first. I mentioned," is this considered a safety issue "? Then he made phone call, $300 ma'am. I even asked is there a recall? (hence Ford does have a recall on the 1997-2008 F-150's fuel tank straps rusting) He said nope. I couldn't believe it. My car is garage kept, very low miles (now 54300). I even asked him, " Do many of these often, or a lot " ? He said NO. So, now since the old straps rusted, it has made the fuel tank rust. To get that fixed is about $1000. I have asked many people if they ever had rusting fuel tanks. Nope.. I have owned many older cars even with over 100k with no problems like this.

I just need some info on how to contact Ford to complain about this. Is it possible that the metal used for some cars (like mine) is the same metal as the recall Ford has now on the F-150's ? Don't know if I should trade-in for new, or just fix it.
