While entering onto the woodrow wilson bridge from I-295S on 2/1/2018, I pulled into the center lane and backed off the gas pedal, but the car continued to accelerate on its own. Luckily the traffic was light, after hitting the brake and the off button for the cruise control, to no effect, I was able to pull into the right lane and turn the car off. While still in motion, I turned the key back on and everything was normal again. Since it wasn't a cruise control issue, it would appear it is similar to the Toyota problem with the drive by wire issue.

The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. While idling at a stop sign, the contact observed fuel leaking from the vehicle without warning. In addition the contact observed corrosion on one of the two fuel tank straps and it was also fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Straps holding the fuel tank broke due to rust. The tank fell off. The right side of the tank was resting on the ground, the left side held up by the filler tube only.this happened while vehicle was parked in driveway overnight. Could have had very serious consequences if it happened while moving.

With only 30,000 miles, the fuel rail assembly corroded through, created a pin hole and sprayed fuel against the hood assembly and over the entire top of the engine. This occurred only 2 days after the vehicle had been repaired by Ford for the safety steering recall. The vehicle was repaired and mechanic mentioned that he has never seen this before and this assembly should not have corroded.

My husband noticed (the week of August 11th 2014 that our gas tank was hanging loose, only held up by the filler hose. The straps had rusted out. He had just filled up the tank approx. A day or two before he noticed the gas tank hanging down.we had to have a tow truck take it to the mechanic for fear of sparks causing an explosion. Many older people have this car and it would be horrible if they didn't notice something like this and drove it on expressway with the tank hanging. We also reported to Ford mtr. Co. quite some time ago that the gas pedal is close to the brake and that causes your foot to be partially on the break and the gas pedal. The car races a little ways ahead until you realize what is happening. We reported this quite some time ago to Lincoln Mercury but no one did anything about it. The gas tank is the most worrisome of the two defects. We did report this to Ford mtr. Co, today 08/20/2014. Thank you very much. I hope you are as concerned as we are. As for the break and gas pedal Lincoln Mercury dealer seemed to know this happens.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated both fuel tank straps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

Immediately after filling the fuel tank, while stopped at an intersection, the fuel tank fell out of the vehicle. Investigation has revealed that both straps holding the fuel tank into the vehicle have failed due to rust and corrosion. The failure is approximately 3-4 inches from the straps rear attachment points. The only thing preventing the tank from completely separating from the vehicle is the filler tube which is holding the drivers side of the fuel tank in relative position with approximately a 3in drop. The passengers side has completely dropped and is resting on the ground. I believe the tank straps are defective because while there is some evidence of rust to other components in the vicinity of these straps, none of them have anywhere near the degree of rust the straps have. Both straps have rusted through and failed allowing the fuel tank to separate and fall to the ground on the passenger's side. Fortunately this occurred at a stop, had this occurred at speed there is a high potential for a catastrophic fuel fire which could have resulted in injury or death.

My 2006 Grand Marquis original plastic intake manifold developed a crack at the drivers side rear intake bolt area causing it to leak antifreeze. This caused me to have to spend $240 to buy a new dorman replacement and install it. Ford continues to use these cheap plastic manifolds despite losing a class action lawsuit against them for this problem. There will be more of these plastic manifold failing in the near future to be sure. This problem should be addressed by a new class action lawsuit due to Ford continued incompetence as a manufacturer. My car also suffers from a defective eatc air conditioner control that blows air out of the wrong vents and won't activate the ac. Also a bolt broke on the drivers side front seat due to rust. Also the digital compass has quit working. Also had a water leak in the back passenger floor area.
