rear window exploded without warning

This happened overnight on 11/15/2011. Ford needs to recall all of their trucks to fix this problem or someone could get hurt really bad

Mariner Luxury 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,840 miles

On Friday evening October 16 at about 8:15 pm I was driving at about 30 miles an hour. The temperature was 37 degrees and it was raining lightly. The rear window wiper was on delay. The defroster had been on. Suddenly there was a loud boom I thought we had been hit but there was not jarring of the vehicle. When I looked back I realized the rear window had exploded. The wiper was moving back and forth, but the glasss was gone. The struts hldingthe glass were dangling I have ownd the vehicle since new and have had the vehicle in 100 degree weather and below freezing weather. This incident was scarry as glass blew into the vehicle. Fortunatley no one was sitting in the back seat. I notice ther are 22 complaints for 2005 Ford Escapes having the same problem. the sister car to this vehicle. I will be pursuing this with the dealer and Fod Motor Co Monday morning.
