Ford Mercury Mariner: At 65 mph I tapped the brake pedal to disconnect the cruise control. Proceeded to press the gas pedal and found the gas pedal cable to the throttle linkage fell off. Coasting through 65 mph traffic with no gas control was challenging. Why did the gas pedal cable fall off and has other vehicles owners experience the same problem?
