My Cars transmission started making a whining noise and having problems shifting gears. I did my research on this problem and found that in most cases, It needed a flush and filter change. I did this and the problem was not fixed. Now my Mechanic is telling me that there is some sort of Mechanical problem inside the transmission. After doing some additional research, I discovered tat so many people are experiencing problems with the Transmissions in these cars. I am upset that Ford and Mercury are aware of the issues with the Transmissions in the Ford escape and Mercury Mariner and are not offering to fix or replace them. The Transmissions they installed must be recalled. I do not have the money to pay for repairs.
Very upset.

Transmission failed today with no warning on a busy Main Street. Mechanic has not investigated in depth yet, but is estimating $2500-$3000 to fix. Occurred just 3,000 miles after the expiration of the 100,000 mile warranty, of course...

Regularly maintained 06 mercury mariner trans quit...very costly to repair...only 50,000 miles. Is there a design flaw in the 06 MM Transmission? Is Mercury extending warranty because of it?

This is the FOURTH TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL / REPLACEMENT IN THIS VEHICLE. I would like to know under what circumstances at all does a vehicle with 126,000 need FOUR TRANSMISSIONS! There is obviously a problem outside of the rhelm of a standard problem. Even though there is a tremendous history of transmission problems with this vehicle, Ford Customer Service Center is denying any responsibility AGAIN. We continue to talk, and I hope that they see the light here, but really, FOUR TRANSMISSIONS....

Very disappointed with this vehicle - noisy, poor mileage and not what I expected when I purchased new.

If Ford knows that their transmissions are more than prone to failure, even as low as 30,000 miles, but certainly at 100,000 miles, then why sell these cars to females (especially) who no ability to make this repair on their own and to sell to single, old females who do not have the finances to make such repairs. Couldn't car dealers tell the consumers "Hey, this really isn't a good car for you, there is a better than 50% chance that you will be facing a $2500-$4500 transmission issue with this vehicle."
This strikes me as being able to legally steal from consumers - forcing a transmission replacement on them.
