I just bought this car three months ago, its had after problem. Sway bar is loose. I've had electrical problems and even worse the transmission just went out. After the transmission went out, I go online to find out that many people with this car have the same problem and nothing has been done. No recalls. Everyone has said this is the worst year for Mercury, especially the Mariners. Something needs to be done Ford. Own up to it.

My 2008 Mercury Mariner had less than 62,000 miles on it when the transmission went out...19 days after the extended warranty expired. I had to have the car towed to a local garage. The dealer wouldn't do anything unless I took the car there---a major obstacle since the car wouldn't move and the dealer is 50 miles away. Ford wouldn't do anything since "it wasn't their problem."
I drive about 12 miles/day to work and back, but about >10,000/year on the car. Bought it used. Shouldn't a transmission last longer than 61,000 miles??

Transmission failed, thankfully it didn't fail while we were moving (a few weeks after this)! Not going to buy American again, which is sad, because I was a 3rd generation all-American driver.
