Second time the power brake pedal assembly has failed. The assembly failed in 19th February 2013 and had to be replaced by Fremont Ford. The power brakes failed completely and it had to be towed in. The part is BM6Z-2455-A. The Power brake assembly electronics failed again in January 26 and I have to drive it into the dealership with failing brakes. I was informed that the part is no longer manufactured and is unavailable from Ford. Failure of brake electronics in this hybrid represents a hazard if the brakes fail from failing electronics and the car is unable to stop. We are currently searching for part from a scrapped vehicle. The car is currently at Livermore Ford 1-925-273-7814. I think that the car should be recalled and defects in power brake module investigated and redesigned part should be installed before other cars brakes fail.

Couple weeks back, significant other encountered issue with brake signal coming on and needed to pretty much press the brakes to the floor to get it to brake. Took it to a nearby shop and they weren't familiar with the car, so they recommended to bleed the brakes according to error code and online. Signal went away for a bit. Signal came back with no immediate brake issue. Took to the dealership and they replaced some parts which also made the signal disappear for now. The parts were: Booster brake (a booster asy - brake), a bush, a module. Assuming the part replacement effectively hid the issue like a brake bleed. Few days later while driving about 40mph later the brake signal came on, wasn't touching the brakes at the time. Went to brake and they weren't reacting normally and wasn't braking. Had to also pretty much press hard on the pedal and get the pedal to the floor to break. Pulled off to a side road and restarted the car. Issue disappeared upon restart. Assuming something that controls the brake booster turns off.

The brake pedal goes straight to the floor leaves you with no brakes. This is due to the ABS hydraulic control module failing same as other ones in Ford and Mercury's being recalled. This is terrible and dangerous and they refuse to help even though thousands of customers with Mariners and escapes are having identical problems. Does multiple people have to die before they recall these? this happened while on the highway at 65mph. Terrible and dangerous.

My daughter was involved in an accident due to faulty brakes. We have had the vehicle in to have repairs at three different shops, the last two being at Ford. The first two shops could never get the brakes right. Ford finally got them to work for a period of time. They went out again. Ford had the car for another month- it takes months every time. Paid another $2445. And still no brakes. Have contacted Ford corporate and they refuse to help or give me documentation to that effect. Ford cases are cas-28178357 and cas-27857368. I have two other Mariners and this one just isn't right. Please advise my options. I don't want to sell or trade this with a problem that could possibly hurt or kill someone. Thanks!

Our son is driving this car wit 90K miles on it. Had 1200 of break work done after feeling like the pedal was going down too far and he could not stop well and then it ended up needing a new ehcu to the tune of 2600$. this is a very critical component and from what I read, there are a lot of people experiencing this problem. It should not fail and Ford as not issued a recall. I called Ford to see if there could be any assistance and they said no. Good cars are being junked for this reason and it is a severe safety issue.

While traveling approximately 35 mph, driving in a straight line on a city street in traffic, the ABS abruptly applied the brakes - hard! the ABS light came on and a "check brake system" warning message was displayed. Also, the electrical system shut down and the engine lost power. After about 5 seconds, power was restored and vehicle was able to proceed. This occurred approximately 8 times over a two mile distance. During the last 4 times, the engine died, lost power completely, and needed to be turned off and restarted to continue. This failure was a dangerous safety hazard. Vehicle was towed to albuquerque Lincoln Volvo. The problem was diagnosed as a failed ABS module, 9L8Z. The dealer replaced the ABS module with a faultly module. A second ABS module was installed and the vehicle was deemed repaired. The dealer did not return the defective part for analysis.

Have had multiple brake failures including an accident that my daughter was involved in as a result of brake failure. The brakes will work fine for a short period of time and then out of nowhere you step on the brake and there's just a soft pedal for about 3/4 of the was before you get a very soft brake. Into this for thousands and now Ford says a hydraulic brake sensor is the problem for between $2100-2400. Heard that it was fixed every time I've picked it up. Dangerous!!! my daughter or someone else could have been killed.

While I was driving on hwy doing 75mph my Mercury Mariner 2009 it suddenly loss power and (while engine was running) I could not accelerate. "tool" light came on. I could not do anything to regain speed (accelerator was disable) and the only fix was to shut down the engine and re-start. Vehicle will start and work normally I took to the mechanics the next day he said that no codes came up.
