My 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid started out O.K. In January of this year, after going through a car wash, while driving home, the "wrench" icon appeared on the dash. I made it home but noticed a notification which said "stop safely now". That sounded rather ominous. I got home and turned it off, and tried to restart it, but nothing would happen. Completely dead. We had it towed into the dealership, which did not have a clue as to how to fix it. Two days later, they said that it was some "Corrosion" and it would work, It did for a while.
