During normal driving on the highway the engine lost power, the wrench light on the dash lit. The vehicle sputtered and suddenly decreased in speed, making for hazardous driving conditions. I moved to the side of the 4 lane highway and into the breakdown lane. I placed the vehicle in park, the engine idled roughly. I turned off and restarted the car and the symptoms were gone. A week later the same trouble returned. Please press fmc to resolve at no-cost to consumer the obvious and dangerous manufacture defect with a recall on the affected parts/system.

The vehicle shut off while driving. This re-occurred several times during the next 8 days also while driving, one time while making a left hand turn across oncoming traffic. We researched the problem and had two estimates done and contacted Ford Motor Company. The throttle body had to be replaced and the repair cost us $400 dollars. We have researched this problem and have seen that this is a very common safety problem. We spoke with our neighbors who have a Ford escape and already had their throttle body replaced as well for the same problem. We were told by the dealership that the new part is designed differently now, so this should not happen to us again. This has to be a recall item. It is obviously a manufacturing defect and is a huge safety concern. Ford should have to be responsible for these charges. We are very disappointed that Ford has not taken responsibility for this issue and that all of us have to pay for a defective system that Ford Motor Company knows is a problem, and could have been the cause of a major accident.

Driving at approximately 55 mph and the vehicle just stopped, pulled to shoulder, the engine was still running but no fuel getting to it to go. I turned off the ignition and restarted and it was fine. It happened again a few days later and I called a Ford dealership to have it checked, I waned to get it taken care of before warranty expired in December of 2012.I was told they could not find anything wrong with it. I had another incident about a month later, at this time I did not drive it much unless I had to until warmer weather. In June of 2013 I had another incident with the same problem. I did not have any problems until August of 2013. I then had numerous incidents with the same problem and I called the Ford dealership to look at it again. By this time there was no warranty on it and the problem was found. I had to pay more than $500 for it to be repaired.
