Mariner Hybrid 4WD 4-cyl

  • 71,500 miles
The power steering went out in my mother's 2007 Mariner hybrid with 72,000 miles due to failure of the power steering control module. After searching online forums, I found this to be a rather common issue on the 05-07 mariner and escape hybrids. The repair will cost just under a thousand dollars once you locate the part. After having it diagnosed at my Ford dealer, I contacted Ford customer care to see if they could resolve the issue, and they acted like it was something they were unaware of even though it does not take much searching to see it's a common problem. Also it's a safety issue. The same part was recalled on the 08-11 escape and Mariner hybrids, and the recall should have included the 05-07 as well.
