Milan LX 3.26

Both front door handles broke and it is a real pain to roll down the window, reach the door handle to open from the inside.

Milan 2.3L

  • Manual transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I still have the old handle mechanism. The body man says he has replaced a lot of them.

Update from May 2, 2017: Car now has 86000 miles have replaced the right handle a year ago. Now the right rear has broken. My 1950 Ford is great, solid and a strong survivor all doors and locks are original and work. Ford makes its money selling junk plastic and aluminum parts on their cars and trucks.

Milan LS 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,000 miles

THE PASSENGER DOOR IN THE FRONT WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR. YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OR HAVE SOMEONE OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. PASSENGER DOOR IN THE BACK SEAT DOES NOT SPRING BACK TO POSITION BUT ONLY 1/2 WAY. IT WILL PROBABLY BREAK SOON. THE FRONT SEAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD SOMEONE NEED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR QUICKLY.

Milan Premier V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

The interior door handles are made of plastic and covered with silver foil. I purchased the vehicle used in 2009 and shortly thereafter the foil started to peel away and you could see where the plastic was being stressed. Eventually all of the handles broke in half and one has broken all the way off. Only driver handle remains. I called this an annoyance but if a handle broke off when someone was trying to exit in an emergency it would be terrible.

Three interior door handles have broken on this vehicle. They are made of light-weight plastic and are inadequate for their intended purpose. Ford./Mercury refuses to accept responsibility and the cost to replace is ridiculous.

i had the milan for about a year before the handle on the driver side begun to bend inward. i asked about the warranty on it and was told that there wasn't one for the handle. it broke, so, i had to pay for it myself.

Milan 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

one breaking door handle is "acceptable"...not: but all 4 of of em breaking?! obviously ford dropped the ball on this CRAP material used to make the handles! This car has given me other troubles before it may be the worst car i ever had? NEVER EVER have i had a door handle break and all of em are in the process of breaking to actually being broke. Ford should not just repair the handles but replace em with new door handles made of a better material

I think that the handles may have already been broken when i bought the car but i assumed that it was just the paint. The handles are plastic but painted to look like metal. Now both rear handles are broken.
