The power steering light and the power train light came on. I pulled the car over to the side of the highway, stopped the car, turned the car off and back on and the steering was gone. This is the 3rd time this has happened over the life of the vehicle. Previous times I have taken it to the dealership as the 2011 model has been recalled for the same issue. They have quoted me upwards of $2000 to repair. When I declined, the computer was reset and it worked again. This is the first time that the traction control service came on.

Engine goes to 4000 at highway speed and transmission slips while driving at 70 on interstate. Won't shift unless throttle is backed way off. At low speed on 2-1 downshift, it bangs into gear jerking you out of the seat and causing possible loss of control. Only does it on slight inclines. I purchased new 11/3/2009 car only has 24,818 miles on it and has been serviced only at Ford dealers.

I was driving down the highway and then my gas pedal went to the floor and had no power. I pulled over to the side of the road and when I lifted the hood the whole engine was shaking. I shut off the car. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and it started up slowly. Ran for about 10 miles and did it again at 35 mph. Pulled over shut off car and waited(as a police officer pulled up to my car). Started the car again and made it to our campsite. We were 3 hours from home. I went online and found all of these problems with this car. I ended up at O reilly auto parts and fixed the throttle body in the parking lot. Has been running slightly rough since this happened. Then this morning(3 weeks later) I started the car and the radio and info on it does not work. Still working on this problem. Any thought would be helpful. I think it is time to get rid of the Mercury and go back to Chevy.
