I turned the corner today and my car suddenly lost power and sputtered and was difficult to steer. I managed to roll to the curb and front end started shaking so I immediately turned it off. Turned the ignition again and it struggled to start but did and then immediately repeated the above scenario. Fire station was on the corner and luckily three firemen saw what happened and drive down to help push my car into a culdesac. Waited 90 min for a tow to the dealer and now stuck with paying for a rental. I paid for an extended warranty and will be very upset if this isn't covered! very dangerous and I don't know that I'll feel safe driving this car anymore! a recall needs to be issued!!!!!

Car died multiple times on highway.I pulled over each time, turned off key, and restarted the car and proceeded. Dealer said it was a fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump. Car still dies. O'reilly's says it is the throttle body. I am having trouble finding the part. Car is not safe and I need it fixed or replaced.

When I was driving to work on Sunday, I was going 70 on the interstate (I had my car set on cruise control). Out of nowhere, the wrench light turned on, my car made a very loud noise, and I was unable to accelerate my car. I had to pull over at an exit, and when I came to a complete stop, my car was shaking profusely. I turned my car off, and when I tried to start it, it took it several seconds to actually start. I figured it was just a glitch, so I didn't worry about it. Two days later, I was driving down another road going 45 mph, and I was driving up a hill (my foot was on the accelerator). The same thing happened again. So I took my car to a Ford dealer, and they determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced. Then, they informed me that the specific throttle body that I needed was back-ordered for 6 weeks (isn't that a sign that there needs to be a recall??), and that I would have to continue to drive my car like this until the end of July. After researching the issue, I found that over 27,000 throttle bodies have been replaced (foxnews.com), and that there are many other issues that have come up with my car. I don't feel safe when I am driving, especially because the throttle body "dies" (if that's what the technical term is) without any warning.

The car was traveling at 30 mph when all of a sudden, without any warning whatsoever, the engine shut down. I had it towed and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. Cost was $387.01. I don't feel that this should happen at 16,423 miles. (it had just passed warranty period.) had I been traveling on an interstate this would have been a major safety problem.

The vehicle (which only has 30,000 miles on it) will stall at any speed without notice. There is no throttle response and engine idles rough with black smokey emissions. This condition has happened several instances, the worst case being with my wife and child trying to accelerate into traffic and suddenly experiencing a stall/no throttle situation half way into the intersection. The stalling has consistently been remedied by cycling the ignition off and then on again, then its just a matter of 20 to 200 miles and it happens again.the dealer has failed to diagnose the problem and states Ford/Mercury has no knowledge of a problem.the wrench light illuminates only while problem exists, it does not store a code or remain lit.the dealer has worked closely with us but is at a loss as to what the problem is. This problem needs to be addressed before my family or someone else gets hurt or worse killed.

2.car (hybrid) loses power. This is the only occurrence. The car was started and driven down hill to an intersection. When turning right the car suddenly and without any warning lost power. Several attempts to accelerate failed and the car came to a stop. I looked at the dash and the hev screen. I saw that the battery was fully charged (maximum limit), wrench warning lamp was on and the hev screen showed only the electric motor was on (hi lighted). I turned the ignition key off then on, and the car returned to normal operation. At this point the hev screen showed the engine, motor and battery hi lighted. Should this happen while entering a freeway, a serious accident could have occurred.
