problem #1

Sep 012012

Montego Premier 3.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 60,000 miles

when the shifting problem first happened in summer of 2012, it was not severe enough to get upset about. I thought I just needed transmission fluid. i checked the fluid level was full. and it would only do it sometimes. But on 9-01-12 labor day weeked on my way to the New Jersey shore going over the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the up side of the 4 lane bridge, when I accelerated the transmission shifted out of gear, the check engine light came on, the idiot light wrench came on, the rpm's gauge went way up, car slowed to a crawl, about 20mph. I put on my 4way flashers and prayed I would make it to the top of the bridge 300 feet above the Deleware River, so I could at least coast down the other side. i made it to Pennsville N.J. to Riverside Ford, that was 10:00 am the service dept was open but could not help me because they were only able to do oil changes, and install tires being it was a Saturday. i kept driving the crippled car, made it back to Lancaster Pa, took it to the Ford dealer where I bought it. they said there were TSB bulletins for my car just leave it here if You can and We will test drive to see if the problem happens. ARE YOU KIDDING? what kind of answer is that? I took it to a trans. shop and they said the computer and trans were not reading each other, they reprogammed them it it worked semifine over the winter. this car does not get driven a lot. 7yrs old 70000mi, do the math. this past week 6-12-13 it finally went Berzerk, only shifted when it wanted too, etc. took it to the same transmission shop and they found bulletins on line about this model cars trans.problems I am describing and Ford Mtr Co. says they have none? I had them repair it. it took a new valve body $1400.00,+ labor $1759.00. to fix what I know is a safety issue, due to my encounter going over a major bridge, that Ford Mtr. Co. does not acknowledge. That's it Ford, wait until its too late to save someones life or financial loss due to product malfunction which I can"t believe Your company is not aware of. will I ever buy another Ford product again ? You people figure it out !!!

Update from Jun 21, 2013: I just want a response from someone if this issue can be taken care of.i am out 1800.00 dollars for a production problem that I think Ford Motor Co. is responsible for. it is a safety issue and a product default even if the vehicle is out of warranty my car only has 70,000 miles on it .we the public who bought this product need and deserve a response from Ford ASAP so We know what to do and be assured We can keep driving this vehicle safely. As a major Corporation in this Country I hope You people will take action!I will think again before I buy another Ford product!!!!!!! thank you rjvy62.
