The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond, and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The driver manually shifted gears to slow the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the return spring part was no longer being produced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 184,000.

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the computer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, hydraulic control unit, and the psi switch needed to be replaced. On a second occasion, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic control module needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that on both diagnostic occasions, a technician advised that the anti lock brakes may not function which was a safety concern. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 102,454.
