: the contact stated recall letter # 02S28 was received regarding the seat belt. When the vehicle was taken to a service dealer to replace seat belt bolt, the contact requested to have a remote door opener installed on the vehicle, as well. While the service dealer was attempting to install the remote door opener, there were problems programming the remote which resulted in a malfunction of the driver side door. The driver door would not lock or unlock. The contact expressed unhappiness with the long wait and the run around from the dealer in repairing the vehicle.

I bought my vehicle about 3 years ago. It had 60,000 on the odometer. The back windshield wiper never worked, and does once in a while and the radio light never stays on. Once in a while it will show the station or the time. My drivers side door handle has always been loose. My engine light came on a year after I got it and it will not go off. It say egr flow insufficient and yet I have replaced all of those and had the computer reset. The passenger side door does not lock unless I lock it by hand and then you can't open it. The back seats sometimes lock and other times won't. my seat was recalled and I took it, and now it is broken. These cars are not made very well and I think we should get letters on the recalls. I haven't received but one letter and I took it immediately, but I see there have been other recalls and I wasn't notified. What should I do now?

I have a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer. Have driven this vehicle since Nov. 1999. Have several complaints with vehicle. Rear wiper has worked about 20% of the entire time I have owned vehicle. It does not work at present and has not worked for over two years. Got tired of trying to have it repaired. Lights on stereo has been going off and on since I have owned the vehicle. Sometimes light will stay off for a week. After playing a cd in the cd player (not changer), cd becomes very hot and it usually destroys cd. Driver's side door lock did not work for about a year and then started working. Something fell out or broke off of the passenger side door and door lock will not lock automatically. Power antenna started not going down completelyabout two weeks ago and now will not work at all even though power is still going to it because you can hear the motor. Have had all recalls done on vehicle except the bolt replaced on driver's side seat. There have been about four recalls on vehicle since I have owned it. Power lock on rear door will not unlock unless you use the key. It would seem that there is some major electrical problems with vehicle. This should have been checked on these vehicles long ago.

1998 Mercury Mountaineer. Automatic door locks will not unlock. This also causes a problem when trying to unlock the vehicle with the key(won't unlock).he handles brake when trying to get out of car. I was stuck in my car at the post office today and had to climb out of the window to get out. Thank god this was not an emergency situation and kids were not with me.
