Mountaineer 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,812 miles

Nothing but problems out of this 2004 mountaineer. Problem I have now, dash said engine failsafe mode & died, while driving. It restarted, made it home. The belt had been making noise for a couple days. I replaced belt, reset PCM. Engine started, drove 1/4mile. Failsafe mode, engine died.Engine will rotate but hasn't started since.I'm thinking PCM. It has gone out before.

Mountaineer SU 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 103,000 miles

Trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem. The car will not start. The battery has been tested and is fine. When we turn the key the lights and gages all come on but it just will not start. Has been at the shop for two days, they have not been able to find the problem yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

went to start the car the other morning and it won't even turn over. We checked the battery and the starter. both are good. we are still trying to fix it ourselves to save repair money. My husband bought a $20 book on the vehicle because I never had an owners manual. so far it hasn't helped....
