Mountaineer V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 212,000 miles

Do Not buy the mountaineer! Transmission was slipping and needed rebuilt. 2 years later, same problem (torque converter). Transfer case was also defective. As was the computer, the front end bushings, EGR Valve and Mass Air Flow Sensor, car was cutting out, all within a month of each other. If you are thinking of buying one of these, run!

Mountaineer LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

My son was driving and turned on cruise control. All of a sudden, the entire engine shut off, steering tightened up, lights went on and he pulled to the side of the road. Once he restarted the vehicle, it worked fine again. I have seen other posts in regards to this same problem. Is there a recall on this vehicle for this particular problem? Not a good thing!!

Mountaineer Premier 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

This can happen anytime, any speed.....Everything just dies.....pull off of street, wait about 30 seconds or so and it

starts right back up. Everything is fine until the next time. NO check engine or codes of any kind! That's why it's hard to fix cause there's no codes to check....Had to three places and they can't figure it out......Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!!
