The drivers door failed to latch.the car was not damaged in any way or broken into. Fortunately the car wasnt moving at the time, there was no reason for it to fail. The drivers door and passenger door had to be tied together with rope in interior of car to drive it to dealer. I also had to hold on the door to prevent it from opening. The dealer made the repair with a clip and new latch, however I was held responsible for the $118 bill. If this isnt a safety issue then I dont know what else it could be. A drivers door latch should never fail at 60287 miles! this car has been driven by an adult and has the normal wear and tear.certain components of a car should be warrantied for 100,000 miles. I have had numerous problems with this car, but this is the first time I felt I had to complain about this!! these dealers and the manufacturer have to be held responsible when a car has a safety defect! such as this one. A trend shouldnt have to be established when it concerns a safety matter. I would be curious to know what other Mystique owners think of this problem. There are certainly plenty of them with customer complaints. I feel all of us are getting taken to the cleaners and the mess still remains! thank you for letting me vent my frustrations. I havent yet communicated with the manufacturer Ford Mercury division but I will certainly do so.
