The contact owns a 1995 Mercury Mystique. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the cooling system was below level and he added antifreeze. Several days later, he noticed that all of the antifreeze leaked out and he filled it back up. He checked the cooling system again a week later and the failure recurred. The heating system was also inoperative. The dealer stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure as mentioned in NHTSA campaign id number 00V367000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle has not been repaired. The purchase date was unknown. The failure mileage was 38,000 and current mileage was 38,800.

Last year in March 2001 I had a recall on my engine cooling fan. I brought my car to a local dealership to have it taken care of. The car at the time was presenting problems with overheating, excessive torque, and the check engine light was occasionally coming on. The dealership (was laplace Ford in laplace, la) only changed the fuse for the fan and nothing else. At the time I brought my car in the mileage was at 84000 miles and the warranty for the fan motor only extended to 100000 miles. Now the problem has become worse and laplace Ford is syaing they need to charge me an excess of $450 for repairs when in all actuality this problem (which I thought was already taken care of a year ago) I feel should be Ford's responsibility to repair. Please advise me in what actions I may take to resolve this issue? thank you.

Motor kept overheating and was caused by cooling system not functioning properly, also the right passenger spring was replaced prior to my purchase, are these springs faulty? I paid $1100 for the hgeads and my car is in the shop and I am getting an estimate for the repair of the spring.

Engine check light starting coming on fall 2000. Had diagnostics done by the dealer and a service station twice and nobody can find anything wrong. It comes on everyday about 5 minutes after the car has started and stays on the entire time the car is running. Started having problems with the coolant summer of 1999. The temp. Gage goes to 3/4 to all the way to the right. But I am told that nothing is wrong with that either. Yesterday the temp. Gage went into the red and the fan never kicked on. Checked the coolant reserve and the coolant was boiling out the top. I checked it before driving and it was normal. I'm tired of putting money into this car. Please look into the problem. Thank you.

The consumer requested that the dealer check the flow of the radiator but after the vehicle was picked up it overheated while driving, the vehicle was returned to the dealer where they replaced the thermostat and water pump and flushed the radiator, at this point the vehicle ran horribly and the consumer took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who found a strang substance clogging the cooling system. The cooling system on the engine block has been replaced but it still runs hot. Ford did a buyback on almost every V6 made in 1995 but my car model. They claim that there have been no engine block compliants on my car model. But all of the people I know that have the same car are having the same overheating problems.

Temp gauge stays to right of "L" on gauge & car smells hot, dealer says everything is "normal". from past experience I know it's not "normal" for a 4cyl. To run hot. What can I do if dealer says there's nothing wrong?

This, I believe, is manuafacturer's defect that I have tried work with the company and the billy young Mercury dealership on this matter. But the dealership and myself have been meet with confusion on the Mercury staff at 1-800-392-3673 and what I see as apparent lack of concern over a possible fire hazard.
