While driving and without warning vehicle caught on fire under the hood. Dealership was notified, vehicle was serviced. Serpentine belt can slip when wet and making a turn because you lose power steering and engine may stop. Very dangerous even though it happens at slow speed because hard steering and brakeing, not power assisted. Just missed having head on collision. This has to be investigated because it may have caused some serious or fatal accidents without being noticed as the reason. Have there been any internal notices about this at Ford?

The car has given me nothing but trouble. First it was the driver side passenger restraint, that was fixed the day after it was purchased. Then it was the battery. I replaced it may of 1999. Then it was the gear not in the exact shift that it should be in. Now it's the car overheating, going past the red 5 mins. After driving. When I took it to a Ford dealer they said it needed a new head gasket. Come on now there are only 50,000 miles on this 1995 vehicle. I can understand brakes, tires your usual wear and tear but a new battery and head gasket? it's going to cost me anywhere from $800-$1100 to get this repair done. That's a down payment for a more modern car. And on top of that the value for the piece of crap according to the kelley blue book, is $3945. Come on now. There are 198 customer complaint about this 1995 Mercury Mystique. It truly needs to be investigated.

Vehicle experiencing problem with water entering underneath vehicle and causing engine to shut off while driving. Dealer repaired at consumer's expense. Also, air bag sensor light came on blinking, indicating that air bag may have deployed. Dealer notified, and would only repair at consumer expense. Can NHTSA help in this matter.

I commute a long distance to work, when I can't fill up my gas tank and the engine light constantly comes on I don't feel safe. When it rains the car sometimes losing power and brakes. The tires and brakes have already been replaced. The following items have also been reolaced, seat belts, air conditioner, drivers side eletric window motor, the horn and more. Whenever I take the car to the dealership I am told that the engine light coming on is no big deal and the brakes and tires were normal wear and tear (the car was maybe a year to a year and a half old) they also told me there is nothing they can do about the gas tank not filling up. I am extremely dissatisfied and would like to know what I can do legally about it. My car is going into the shop again for what I think may be the sensors (this has happened before) the only differance is that this will be the second time I have to pay out of my pocket, I have contacted lemon law, the dealership, Ford, and the bank holding the lease. Lemon law contacted the dealership and this was the only time I received service with a smile instead of an attitude. Even though the problem is still not resolved. Please let me know what I can do to have these problems resolved.( dot number: )
