The passenger seat occupancy mat was replaced by recall on 10/28/2016. On 10/2018 I noticed that when there is a passenger in the seat with their seat belt on the air bag was off, in 1 weeks time the passenger side seat belt light was on all the time and the air bag is off all the time with or without someone occuping the seat. Reguardless if the car is idiling or going down the rode. At least before the recalled mat sensor was replaced the seat mat sensor worked most of the time. Now it does not work at all. I took it to the dealership and they tested the OC3 mat (passenger side mat sensor) and said there are multiple codes for the OC3 mat and they found internal faults and it requires replacement again. They said this recall is no longer under warrenty and I need to pay over $1500 to have it replaced. It is unsafe for me to have a passenger in my car if we got into an accident their airbag would not be on, there for they would have no airbags to deploy to try and protect them. How is this my fault" they replaced my mat sensor with another faulty one that is worse then the first one. How long are the warrenties for recalls and the parts replaced" I have the papers from the dealership stating what I just reported to you.

I received a notice from MINICooper important safety recall notice by mail and called to try and schedule a replacement of the seat sensor. I was told that a diagnostic test might be charged for this and it would be $150 for the replacement. This is freaking ridiculous, this is the second time they try to cash out at my expense... The written "safety recall notice" that I received in the mail yesterday, October 14, 2015, of which BMW/MINIlikely provided NHTSA a copy is both false and misleading. Four months after BMW/MINInotified me not to allow an adult-size person to ride in the front passenger seat of this four-seat, two-door automobile, the current written notice indicates that BMW's MINIdealers "are now ready" and I should "schedule an appointment for recall repair service as soon as possible." In using the website provided in the notice to locate the nearest dealer, I was unable to schedule an appointment. The dealer had no parts and would not even schedule an appointment to occur in the future. A call to the BMW/MINItoll-free number included in the notice caused the BMW/MINIcustomer relations and services" representative to admit that the notice was false and that many dealers are not ready to schedule appointments for this service. The notice for recall campaign no. 15V-205 indicates that it was sent to me "in accordance with the national traffic and motor vehicle Safety Act." Does NHTSA really condone false and misleading written notices purported to be in accordance with federal safety law?

The contact owns a 2005 MINICooper. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag light failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate mileage failure was 60,000.

Occupant seat sensor failure in passenger seat, airbag light comes on and stops airbag operation. I see that NHTSA has contacted BMW for this problem and for this model year; however, BMW/MINIwon't take blame for airbag failure. BMW takes irresponsible attitude that even though car has only 36,000 miles, safety is my problem, not thiers. As a side note, dealer says part is $1200 plus installation and reprogramming. BMW, the ultimate driving (and killing) machine.

2005 MINICooper. While driving approximately 45 mph, the front passenger air bag off indicator illuminated with an occupant positioned in the seat. In addition, the failure would occur even when an occupant was not present in the front seat. The illumination no longer continued when the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated the passenger seat mat sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The front passenger seat weight sensor for airbag activation failed. Due to this, the front passenger airbag will not deploy in an accident. The only fix is a $2000 replacement of the entire front passenger seat.

Driving to work in the am. I smell something in the car. When I look at my passenger side seat I saw smoke. Pull over and got a better look at it. I have a holes in my car seat and the two vest that I place on the seat. It appears the heated seat had a electrical failure. Took car to MINIdealer. They said it real odd this happen. They also nice to say I would have to paid to fix it. Look at many site on internet and seen BMW/MINIand other company have issues with heated seats. It do not seem to odd to me. I did not even had the heated seat on because no one was seating there.

The passenger air bag sensor activates, saying that there is a passenger in the seat when one is not present. It often reminds this "passenger" to buckle their seat belt. Other times it is silent but still indicates that the passenger airbag is turned off when there truly is a passenger.

The occupancy sensor has failed. This causes the airbags to be unarmed while the vehicle is in use. I have contacted MINIabout the problem. They covered the repair on certain vehicles, but not mine. This is a safety issue, and it should be covered on all vehicles that it has occurred on, regardless of mileage. The repair is very expensive, and should be covered.

Passenger air bag sensor is defective. The passenger air bag off light, illuminates 3-4 seconds after engine start, along with the red air bag failure light, on the main speedometer. This occurs, whether there is a passenger in the seat, or not, due to this safety defect. MINIcooper dealers, deny this is a problem, however, I have found over 40 other complaints registered on this exact defect !!! major repair cost from the dealer, to change the whole bottom seat cushion assembly, which includes the defective air bag sensor, that separates from the seat cushion, after a short time!
