My 2014 Mini Cooper was always garaged until recently I have been parking it outside. The morning after a relatively heavy rain storm I open the trunk to find the cover over the spare tire area completely saturated. I lift it to find the spare tire compartment completely filled with water with the tool kit floating. I was shocked at the amount of water that collected in the trunk, over a couple gallons for sure. Luckily I had a shop vac on hand and was able to vacuum up all the water and leave the rear hatch open in the sun to dry. This is the second time this has happened the first time was about 3 weeks ago under the same circumstances. I thought it was my fault for not closing the hatch properly but now I will be taking this into the dealer to get sorted out. Shocking that a car that is only 2 years old with under 15k miles is having such leaks.
