Very well maintained 2008 Mini Clubman always got the regular maintenance. After warranty went to reputable mechanics for oil changes tires etc. Driving to the dentist one day and the car slowly died on the side of the road...no lights, no smoke, no loud bangs, just no go...towed it to a local European car mechanic and he said it ran out of oil? How is that that possible? We just checked it last week!!! It had oil, was due for oil change but it had oil. He dropped the oil pan, dark thick oil about a quart it was low, but no metal or anything of note. How does it run out of oil ,no low oil warning lights nothing. 12 grand to put in a new engine, that isn't gonna happen...Come on

When I get off work at 3:30 am in morning go to home for 20 minutes later My car hit lots power and shake engine very bad I try reach to Mini dealer shop place drop off. The Mini service told me " We have got to my mini and need to dig into the engine, area for answers but that will be $300.00 diagnosis to tear into the engine, this could get expensive and They think cylinder is bad, If worst $8,000.00 get new engine" , I am so mad why piston fail? what happen? I am mad at BWM and french engine . That french engine is cheap! ,

Update from May 31, 2016: Every MCS N14 motor turbocharger and catalytic converter go bad which is likely the root cause for your engine failure, we see this all time. Oil gets into the combustion because of the clogged cat forcing exhaust air threw the turbo and into the intake system valve cooking with oil, and somethings liquid oil will make it into the. Combustion chamber. When oil makes its way into the combustion chamber it can hydro lock the motor which usually cracks the piston but can also end valves and even the rank and if that doesn't do it the oil that has coked on the valves can break off and drop into the combustion chamber ending the life of the piston on the. Up stroke. Usually breaking off the skirts and/or cracking the piston, that is kind of why the dealer recommends the JCW motor due to their thicker piston skirts.
