Had the timing chain tension guide adjusted at 115K miles. Leaving my house a few months later, made it to the end of the road and suddenly car sounded like chains were being whipped around the engine compartment. Immediately shut off engine and coasted off the road. Towed it home, sure enough the plastic chain guide had broken and jammed into the chain itself.
Repair was to replace the chain, plastic guides, tension guide, gaskets, drop and clean out the oil pan and pump. In order to do this you have to remove the passenger side tire, quarter panel, and slide the bumper assembly out- which means you have to drain the coolant and disconnect everything on the front of the car. Remove valve cover and everything on top of this, buy a cam locking kit, mark your vanos so you put it back in correctly, etc, etc, etc.
Cost for parts was around $500, but the amount of labor was ridiculous. If you cannot do the work yourself you are looking at $2500 or more for labor from a mechanic. And believe me when I say that when this goes, your car will never be the same and everything else on this Peugeot engine will begin to fail.
