Cooper S

  • Manual transmission
  • 68,000 miles

Mini clutch failed at 68,000 miles. Not covered by warranty. I have driven manual cars since I was 16 (which was a really long time ago) and never had a clutch fail during the life of the car.

Was told it is wear and tear and not covered under warranty. Similar issue with brakes. Car was certified pre owned, and I had to replace them within a year of getting the car (about 2,500 mile into ownership).

Had to pay to fix the deductible to fix the back latch, the air conditioner, the air bag light, the water pump, and I can't even recall what else at this point. The car has spent more time in the shop than out in the year and a half that I have had it.

Horrible car. So fun to drive but just not worth its horrible construction. My first car was a (notorious for unreliability) MGB, and it was a world above the miserable construction of the Mini (and its clutch lasted 180,000 miles).
