check engine light on and engine fan running too long

After about a month, the Thermostat Assembly that we had installed in November failed. Our mechanic here in Oconee Co., GA (worked for BMW before taking over his father's very large shop) contacted the Global Mini in Chamblee, GA. about this defective part. The Thermostat Assembly that he had ordered from the Mini Cooper Parts Supplier had failed.. At first they said that they would honor the warranty. Then, they said that they had to have documentation that it was an authorized Mini Thermostat Assembly. We provided the paper documentation. Finally they decided that they would not honor a warranty at all. We would have to pay another $651.98.

To add insult to injury, I was told that they had forseen a problem with this part and they had bought every one of the Thermostat Assembly Parts that they could lay their hands on. None of the other dealers or shops in North Georgia could obtain this part. The supplier was out and it would be sometime before another shipment could be obtained. Can you imagine telling a customer that? It's like telling me that I have no choice but to deal with them.
